Designed for use in recording studios as well as production and post-production environments, the RC-828 offers centralized transport and record function control of up to 4 DTRS recorders. The RC-828 offers Chase On/Off, Monitor Status Control, 12 locate memories, a Repeat function between points 11 and 12, an Auto Play function and provides support for Auto Punch recording. The ability to control Chase On/Off provides tremendous flexibility when working with multiple machines. This feature allows the operator to enable or disable the 2nd, 3rd or 4th machines in the system in relation to the master. If for example machine 1 has the basic rhythm tracks, while machine 2 has dialog and machine 3 has orchestral backing, the operator can listen to all tracks, or perhaps take the dialog "off-line" while checking the instrumental tracks. The RC-828's Monitor Status Control provides the operator with a flexible means of controlling All Input, Auto Monitor or Jog / Shuttle status of the recorders attached to the controller. In the case of Jog / Shuttle Monitor, the engineer and talent can communicate during a recording session even while the recorder is searching for a specific locate point. The RC-828 provides 12 locate memories for convenient bookmarking of specific points during a recording project. Tied to these 12 locate memories is an Auto Play function that permits immediate playback of material once a specific locate point is reached. Additionally, the remote provides a Repeat function between memories 11 and 12 – facilitating a fast and easy method for isolating a specific section of tape for rehearsal purposes. After rehearsing a specific section, Auto Punch In / Out can also be established directly from the RC-828.
