Even if this is the first time that you have ever touched
a sampler, you can easily create groovy break beats.
A user-friendly sequencer is a powerful tool for tarck
production, and a resampling function for more flexible
editing.
Plus an Auto Sync function that adjusts BPM in one action,
and a variety of effects supports a number of sound creation
tasks, from DJ performance to Remixing.
IMMEDIATE SAMPLING
Simple sampling of any line or microphone source: Three
tonal grades in stereo or monaural are available. A total
of 30 seconds of stereo data can be sampled in "Hi-Fi"
grade, and a total of four minutes of data in monaural
"Lo-Fi" grade. Use and save memory efficiently according
to the sources or your application. For example, you can
use the Lo-Fi grade intentionally to make the sound more
powerful.
PAD PERFORMER
Pad Play for playback of break beats: Assign your samples
of up to 24 pads (eight pads in three banks) for quick
playback. Choose the desired playback mode, depending
on the type of sample, such as a loop or one-shot. A Source
pad on the ST-224 enables you to enjoy Transformer Play
using external sources. LEDs for active pads light up,
which is helpful in a dark DJ booth, or on stage.
EASY SAMPL EDITING
Easy sample editing: Assign a sampled rhythm loop to a
pad for quick playback. In addition, you may select only
a snare or kick drum sound from a single rhythm loop and
assign it to multiple pads. You can also set the level,
pan, reverse, and effects for an assigned sample for each
pad individually, and create many variations from a single
sample. All pad settings, including the start/end points
and offset, do not affect the original waveform data.
This is called "non-destructive editing".
INTELLIGENT AUTO SYNC
Intelligent Auto Sync function for automatic BPM adjustment:
Time and energy-consuming pitch adjustment and time stretch
operations are now history. With the Auto Sync function,
the BPM of a sample assigned to a pad and the BPM of samples
assigned to other pads automatically match one another.
This feature enables you to spend your music production
time more effectively.
BUIL-IN SOUND EFFECTS
Twenty-two built-in effects: Apply effects to certain
pads and use the edit wheel and the edit knob for example
to control pitch bend and resonance in real-time. Dramatic
effect changes will add emotion to your performance. For
an advanced technique, set the effect BPM to sync with
the delay time or modulation cycle of your songs.
SEQUENCER/PLAYLIST TOOLS
Real-time sequencer for recording eight songs and a Playlist
function: The built-in real-time sequencer enables you
to record your pad performance, up to eight songs to produce
remixes. Also, a Playlist function allows you to assign
eight songs to the pads to perform difficult real-time
tricks.
SOPHISTICATED RESAMPLING
Resampling function for sampling phrases in the digital
domain: A Resampling function enables you to create new
sample data by resampling phrases played via the assigned
pad or from the internal sequencer. Of course, you can
also apply the internal effects to phrases before you
resample them. The original waveform data remains completely
intact. Use this ultimate editing power and try resampling
to your heart's content.
MIDI CAPABILITY
MIDI controllable: Sync songs with an external MIDI device
via MIDI clock, trigger pads that respond to MIDI note
numbers, and control internal effects in real-time.
BACKUP MEOMRY
Internal backup memory eliminates time-consuming setup:
Save the entirety of the main memory (bulk data), such
as samples and songs, to an internal backup memory. When
you turn on the power to the unit, the saved data will
be automatically loaded to the main memory to facilitate
quick setup.
DATA CARD
Secured backup with a data card: Using an optional data
card SM04 enables you to save multiple bulk data streams
and load waveform data individually. Using the card also
enables you to import PCM data created on a computer.
FACTORY PRESET SOUNDS
Internal preset sounds: Start to Remix and do DJ Performances
quickly using the internal preset sounds.
FREE CD BUNDLED
Bundled special CD featuring the latest sounds: Use the
bundled special CD to spruce up your sampling technique.
